Ever ate food from a 20 year kitchen? You would if you have been buying fresh breads from the Fairfield Deli which has been in operation for 20 years. They say the secrets of Fairfield lurk here. Indeed they do. The Deli holds the secret to some of the finest home made breads and dips in all of Fairfield if not all of Melbourne. There are home made pies, and hand marinated olives, octopi and prawns. There is nothing ostentatiously commercial about the Deli but most certainly everything ostentatiously tasty. It is an institution with photos hanging from the wall, quips and articles pasted on windows, trays of food and a beautiful gastronomical explosion of smells and scents usually made up of baked bread, garlic and, tradition.
